| | Sheffield people are cool. Official! |
| By: Pete... November 28, 2005 12:35pm That fine organ of coolness, NME, has decreed that not one, but two, of our very own Sheffield pop stars merit entries in their annual 'Cool List'. Alex Turner, of Arctic Monkeys, rather predicably makes the top spot, making him OFFICIALLY the coolest person in the world. Wow. And Kate Jackson, vocalist with The Long Blondes, is in at 39 with a bullet, making her OFFICIALLY cooler than Stuart Price, the fella from Hard-Fi and the drummer from New Order. A big well done to Kate and Alex, although we have to remember that this is a list that still puts talentless, porpoise-voiced, crack-addled dipsh*t Pete Doherty as the 6th coolest person in the world. Ah well.
| | Sheffield singles aplenty this December |
| By: Pete... November 28, 2005 12:28pm Short of stocking fillers for loved ones this year? Well, there's plenty of lovely Sheffield singles released throughout the festive month of December... Bromhead's Jacket release their new single 'What If's & Maybes' on the 5th. It's the follow up to their 'Woolly Bridge' EP, that saw a bit of Arctics-style eBay madness, so snap it up while you can still get it for anything like a normal price. Also on the 5th, as previously reported, Hiem release 'Zombie Party' through Crosstown Rebels. Long Blondes, fronted of course by the 39th coolest person in the world, release a strictly limited, 7"-only 'Seperated By Motorways' on 12th December. Again, grab a copy while you can. And Stoney releases his new double a-side 'Until You Leave/Holds The Stars’ on the 19th. With new stuff on the way from Arctic Monkeys, Grandadbob, Kings Have Long Arms in the new year, it's possibly the best time ever for Sheffield singles. Whoopee!
